      <title>Ray-Pec Youth Friends Mentor Program</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;a target="_blank" href="http://youthfriends.org/"&gt;&lt;img height="77" width="237" border="2" align="left" alt="" src="/Portals/0/LargeMakeTheDifferenceLOGOCOLOR.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;font face="Arial" size="3"&gt;YouthFriends volunteers prove that ordinary people can do extraordinary things. By spending just one hour a week with students in schools, YouthFriends mentors are making a world of difference in the lives of young people throughout Kansas and Missouri. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
YouthFriends is fun for both young people and adults. Volunteers can participate in a wide range of in-school activities, including sharing lunch with a student, reading to a student or class, sharing special talents or career interests, tutoring, or just being a good friend who listens.&lt;br /&gt;

      <title>UPDATE:  Ali Kemp Educational Foundation self defense training - registration</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font face="Arial" size="3"&gt;The Ali Kemp Educational (TAKE) Foundation is bringing its hands-on, self-defense training to Cass County, with a TAKE  Defense class scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at  Raymore-Peculiar High School.&amp;#160;  Women ages 12 and older are encouraged to attend. The Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation and the Community Bank of Raymore are sponsoring this event. To register for the class, go to: &lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.takedefense.org/"&gt;www.takedefense.org&lt;/a&gt;, and select  “Classes and Events” on the left side. Then select Register. When you  complete the registration information, you will be given an opportunity to select the Dec. 17 class at Ray-Pec High  School.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <title>Major Child Welfare Legislation Signed into Law!</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;img height="127" width="150" border="2" align="left" alt="" src="/Portals/0/cmc.gif" /&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;The 2008 Legislative Session may have concluded here in Missouri, but Congress is still busy addressing children's policy issues.&lt;br /&gt;

Policy Highlights, a publication by Citizens for Missouri's Children, allows you to stay informed on happenings related to children and families at the federal level, as well as stay in touch on local happenings here in Missouri and at CMC.&lt;br /&gt;

      <title>November 19th designated as World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.</title>
      <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;The Women’s World Summit Foundation (WWSF) has issued the WWSF Guide for NGO and Citizen Action.&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;The guide may be downloaded at: &lt;/font&gt;&lt;a target="_blank" href="http://www.woman.ch/children/files/WWSFpreventionGuide.pdf"&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;http://www.woman.ch/children/files/WWSFpreventionGuide.pdf&lt;/font&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;font size="3"&gt;&amp;#160; The guide summarizes the main findings of a research project that began in 2007 to accelerate prevention measures of abuse and violence against children. The guide aims to mobilize organizations, institutions, child rights networks, grassroots groups, the interfaith community, social entrepreneurs and all citizens to become committed agents for change to help make prevention a priority.&amp;#160; The members of the WWSF have designated November 19th as the World Day for Prevention of Child Abuse.&lt;/font&amp;gt</description>
